I couldn’t get to sleep that night. I stayed awake with my music playing softly, staring at the ceiling and jumping at almost every single sound. I was nervous; what if someone had followed me into the forest? That meant that they would have seen me in my half-cat form. And that was not good. My foot twitched. That one hug from Zain, that moment of affection, made me smile for the rest of the day. I couldn’t help it. It was like the greatest moment of my life so far. No one except my parents and my cousin has hugged me.
While we were walking to Biology, I noticed that Zain was walking closer to me than usual. We walked up the stairs to the second floor, where there was a large crowd at the top of the stairs. I groaned slightly; I really hate crowds.

I couldn’t get to sleep that night. I was so wired up, so hyped up to see her the next morning that I stayed up listening to music and wishing I could talk to her again. But something in the back of my mind kept taking over my thoughts: she was a werecat, and I was a werewolf. We should not be friends.
